Torin, a leading producer of energy-efficient fan technology to the global air movement industry, has celebrated six decades of British manufacturing with a company rebrand to reflect the forward-thinking business of today. Having manufactured in Swindon since 1964, the company has unveiled a fresh identity including a new name, logo, brand colour, website, updated internal and external signage, as well as a branded lorry curtain. The company’s striking new logo features a motor, which is central to Torin’s market-leading EC (electronic commutated) motor and fan technology. A new brand slogan appears below the logo, ‘Efficiency with every rotation’, which illustrates Torin’s commitment to sustainable air movement.

As well as the visual rebrand from orange to a two-tone teal brand colour, the company has also shortened its name to Torin, with the company previously known as Torin-Sifan. This reflects the company’s transformation from AC to EC technology, with the Sifan product range previously representing the AC technology.  Over the last 20 years, legislation aimed at reducing energy consumption of building products has driven significant migration to EC technology with 70% of Torin’s products now featuring EC technology. Torin’s EC Manufacturing and Technology Centre provides the manufacturing capacity needed to satisfy future requirements. The company’s 25,000 sq ft manufacturing facility is a centre of excellence in the design, development and manufacture of highly efficient EC motor and fan technology.

Torin has also been investing in the future through a Knowledge Transfer Partnership (KTP) with the University of Exeter, part-funded by Innovate UK. KTPs bring together forward-thinking businesses and expert academics to tackle strategic innovation challenges to deliver economic, societal or environmental outcomes. KTPs give organisations the opportunity to access new expertise and capabilities, develop new products and services, and unlock industry-leading solutions. KTPs fund a high-calibre graduate who works full time to transfer expertise between the University and the business. At Torin, Hamid Zokae was employed by the University of Exeter but was based at Torin in a 3-year KTP programme. In Torin’s case, the project Hamid worked on was based around CFD (Computational Fluid Dynamics). Following the completion of the KTP programme Hamid is now a full-time employee of Torin.
